WEED BOARD SUMMER EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS

Applications are being accepted for summer employment positions, which will be required from Mid-May to June for start date to August 31st.  The successful candidates will report to the Urban Operations Manager. 

Duties will include various tasks in the Weed Board and Public Works department including: 

  • Spraying of rural ditches and urban parks;
  • Mixing of chemicals;
  • Operating spray trucks and quads; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.

The following qualifications would be considered an asset:

  • Experience in operating small equipment (1-ton truck, utility vehicles, tractors, quads, trailers, and mowers);
  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of equipment;
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member; and
  • Knowledge of weeds and chemical handling.

Applicants must possess a S.I.N. and a valid Manitoba (Class 5 or better) license. 

The closing date for resumes to be submitted is 9:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025.

Interviews will be held the week of March 10, 2025. Only those candidates chosen for an interview will be notified.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS

  • Grass mowing within town boundaries, urban parks, and urban roadside mowing;
  • Weed whacking, push mowing, planting trees and shrubs;
  • Debris cleanup and drainage works; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.

The following qualifications would be considered an asset:

  • Experience in operating small equipment (30-hp tractors, mowers, and utility vehicles); and
  • Experience in towing trailers with a half-ton truck;
  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of equipment; and
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

Applicants must possess a S.I.N. and a valid Manitoba (Class 5 or better) license.
